![]() While most Barbarian builds mainly get close to the enemy and deal massive amounts of damage, the Throw Barbarian utilizes a different strategy. For your weapons, you are limited to a set selection of uniques and maybe good rolled rare throw weapons. The lack of any top tier throw weapon runewords for Throw Barbarian causes inflexibility in gear choice. The elemental damage added by Gimmershred massively helps killing Physical Immune monsters. For example, while the Gimmershred does offer little bonuses compared to other weapons, it does well against highest difficulty enemies because of the added elemental damage. This is mainly visible for the budget build, since you will need to use certain throw weapons such as: The Scalper, Gimmershred, Wraith Flight, Demon's Arch, Deathbit or any rare throwing weapon preferably with +% IAS, chance to proc Amplify Damage and/or with extra elemental damage as well as high damage. Currently on PTR, these new changes appear to have provided Throw Barbarians with near infinite quantity! This may change in the future and we will be updating our guide regularly.Īs mentioned above, the Throw Barbarian relies on key items which causes the build to impose a strict gear choice. However, the latest Patch 2.4 PTR change further buffed Throwing Mastery by increasing base attack bonus to 44% (from 30%), added chance to not consume quantity per level (up to 50% at level 20-Right now on PTR, we can confirm that higher skill levels further increase this chance to go up above 50%) and making critical strikes with throwing weapons now replenish quantity. We previously emphasized that this change would not solve the problem. The previous Patch 2.4 PTR change increased throw weapon quantity by 50%. This negative trait not only killed the pace but also it was a huge limitation for the class. When this happened, you had to stop what you are doing and open a Town Portal to repair your weapons. During the PTR testing, it was not uncommon to see item quantity warning every few minutes. In other words, the faster you threw (frames per attack), the more item throw quantity you would spend. However, in the previous versions of the PTR, the high IAS caused Throw Barbarian to monstrously chew through item throw quantity. Therefore, the build requires high IAS to further increase its DPS output. The Throw Barbarian unleashes powerful ranged attacks which also benefit from Increased Attack Speed (IAS). This build is viable both as an AoE speed clearer and targeted boss-killer at highest difficulties. ![]() Since the Barbarian has the same FCR breakpoints as the Sorceress, the Throw Barbarian can very quickly teleport across the map. While the budget version can use Leap Attack to quickly traverse the map, the end game version of the build utilizes the Enigma runeword for teleporting. This positive synergy between Double Throw and Throw Mastery greatly empowered the Throw Barbarian build. In addition, the buffs to Throw Mastery added a chance to pierce on throw attacks, which created a positive synergy to further empower the Throw Barbarian build. The buffs to Double Throw transformed the skill into a hard hitting ranged attack. Your pierce does not need to reach 100% for this build to be viable. The Throw Barbarian partially relies on Double Throw being able to pierce through enemies. With the current changes applied in recent patches, the build is in its strongest version, and it truly is a force to be reckoned with! This is a great build for clearing Terror Zones due to having practically infinite throw quantities provided by Throw Mastery! If we had to rank this build in its current state, we would rank it mid to low A tier. The Throw Barb has long been a fantasy driven build which lacked high level of efficiency, until now. While the Throw Barb does very high damage by itself, the character also gains further support from Act 1 Mercenary or alternatively Act 2 Mercenary, which will be analyzed below. The Throw Barbarian (Throw Barb) gets this build name because it heavily relies upon Double Throw and Throw Mastery both of which have been significantly buffed in recent patches. I would like to extend my thanks to Wowhead writers RenataKane and CinereousStyx for providing their advice and assistance which helped formatting this written guide. This brings monster physical resistance to -5%! In other words, once physical immune monsters will drop to -5% physical resistance due to the perfect synergy between Amplify Damage procs and The Bone Break Sunder Charm! The fact that The Bone Break breaks monster physical immunity by lowering monster physical resistance to 95% allows Amplify Damage procs to now apply with 100% effectiveness, rather than 20%. The Throw Barbarian perfectly synergizes with the new physical sunder charm The Bone Break. Following the buffs from patch 2.4, the Throw Barbarian continues to impress everyone in Patch 2.5.
